Friday, September 5: House of Sand and Fog
A gripping exploration of the American Dream gone awry. An exiled Iranian air force colonel (Ben Kingsley) and an alcoholic American woman (Jennifer Connelly) are each driven to desperate measures to claim ownership of a house. For Connelly it is her heritage. For Kingsley it is the hope of a new life for his family. Tragedy ensues as each pursues their dream. Rated R for some strong violence/disturbing images.

Movies that Matter are shown at the Neumayer residence at Perkins and Bellevue Streets, overlooking Lake Merritt. Please note that we maintain a shoeless household. Map and directions. Call or email to place your order for pizza, if desired: 510-451-3009.

Arrive at about 6:15; film rolls at 7:00. We’ll view the movie and then share dessert while discussing the spiritual aspects of the film.
Movie nights are at the home of Daniel and Gwendolyn, 565 Bellevue, Apartment 2407, corner of Perkins and Bellevue. Please note that we maintain a shoeless household.
