Movies that Matter are held on the first and third Fridays of the month. Admission is free. The showing of the movie will be followed by complimentary dessert and informal-but-lively discussion of the ethical/spiritual aspects of the film.

Friday July 4th: There Will Be Blood

Holiday Showing, Early Time. Pizza at 5:45, film at 6:30

Not a horror flick, but rather a study in human greed and obsession, this is one of the best reviewed films of 2007. Nominated for 8 Oscars, including Best Picture, it won for best actor, director and cinematography. Rated R for violence. Since the film is almost 3 hours, we are starting our holiday showing early! Pizza at 5:45, film at 6:30.

Friday, July 18th: Lars and the Real Girl
A touching, amusing, and humorous story about a man whose emotional baggage has kept him from fully embracing life.

So sign up for pizza or bring your own food.  Arrive at about 6:15; film rolls at 7:00. We’ll view the movie and then share dessert while discussing the spiritual aspects of the film.
